New Life From Ruins
1
Kyo Rei (This is the oldest known and perhaps the most uncomplicated piece of Blowing-Zen repertoire from Buddhist Japan. Passed along in an oral tradition for centuries, the written score in Kinko school notation dates from the 18th century. Kyo Rei invites the listener to breathe each breath - and the space between breaths - as something precious and sacred. Please listen to the silence between the notes.)
