Kyo Rei is the oldest known and perhaps the most uncomplicated piece of the Blowing-Zen repertoire from Buddhist Japan. Passed along in an oral tradition for centuries, the written score, in Kinko school natation, dales from the 18th century. Kyo Rei invites the listener to breathe each breath - and the space between breaths - as somthing precious and sacred. Please listen to the silence between the notes.
